Our chosen Charity The Suffolk Punch Trust is an educational and environmental charity dedicated to breeding and preserving the critically endangered Suffolk Punch horse.
The Hollesley Bay Colony Stud, is the world’s oldest and largest Suffolk Punch stud farm. It is the perfect place to meet these magnificent horses, to find out how they shaped the landscape of East Anglia and helped to develop farming throughout the Eastern Counties.
Deep in The Suffolk Coast lives a breed that is rarer than the Giant Panda. Thanks to the dedication of the workers and volunteers at The Suffolk Punch Trust however, the future of these gentle giants is looking far more secure.
The Suffolk Punch horse has been a part of the Suffolk landscape since the early sixteenth century. The horses were originally used for agricultural purposes, but over the years have been used to transport artillery, deliver retail goods and work in forestry.
Come and visit The Suffolk Punch Trust and you can explore the Stud farm on a Tractor -Trailer ride, take a walking tour and visit the Heritage Museum and Implement barn [a collection of over sixty horse-drawn vehicles, vintage implements and machinery]. You can also take one of the three pretty walks around the farm and meet other rare Suffolk breeds such as Suffolk sheep, Red Poll cattle, Silver Appleyard ducks and Ixworth chickens.
